We shoot in carefully scouted dark-sky areas of Cornwall, including Bodmin Moor, West Penwith, and coastal viewpoints near Land’s End and the Lizard Peninsula. Exact location is based on forecast and visibility.

Telephoto lens 300mm-600mm for Lunar workshops
A sturdy tripod
Spare batteries/power bank & memory cards
Lens warmer/dew heater
External shutter release (For star trails, exposures longer than 30 sec)

I’m Aaron Cherrie, the photographer behind @smokeys_skies, with years of experience shooting the night sky in Cornwall. My work has been featured by CNN, BBC, and science publications.
One of the great benefits of our Astrophotography workshops is the way in which we learn from each other.
I take a relaxed approach to teaching and give plenty of time for participants to practice the craft and ask for assistance when required. We spend lots of time discussing the concepts and principles needed to produce an outstanding image, but equally we just do it You’ll leave this workshop with the skills and images to confidently shoot the night sky on your own.
